The Power Of Girls Leadership Institute

There are three elements that make up the power of Girls Leadership Institute (GLI): GLI Programs, GLI Research and GLI Awareness.

Girls Leadership Institute offers five transformational programs for girls, families and educational communities. They are:

Girls Leadership Institute Residential Camps – At our renowned  Overnight Camp for girls in grades 6–12, profiled by the New York Times and Today Show, girls enjoy three weeks of GLI games, friendship and communication workshops, wild ropes course adventures, arts projects (like filmmaking and improv), and good old-fashioned summer camp fun.

Girls Leadership Institute Day Camps – Younger girls love our spring break and summer day camps, where they make new friends, play crazy fun theater games, and learn new leadership skills.

Girls Leadership Institute Parent-Daughter Workshops – Parents and daughters learn together how to navigate the challenges of relationships with friends and family. These fun, popular programs teach concrete skills that families continue to use together long after the program concludes. Programs are available for girls in grades K–9 in a four-part series or weekend intensive.

Girls Leadership Institute After School Programs – Fourth and fifth grade girls rock out together after school to build a community that supports healthy risk taking and authentic self expression, while teaching life changing GLI skills.

Girls Leadership Institute Professional Development –Youth professionals gather biannually from around the world to learn GLI theory, experience the curriculum first-hand and integrate GLI methods into their own professional lives.
The mission of Girls Leadership Institute’s research initiative is to uncover and publicize the challenges facing girls leadership. Led by co-founder Rachel Simmons, this research initiative will leverage quantitative and qualitative data with the goal of improving existing programming resources for all girl-serving organizations and schools.

Girls Leadership Institute is launching an outreach and awareness campaign around girls’ leadership. We will explain the barriers girls face to leadership, and the skills and resources needed to change the story. Through online resources and social media GLI will provide access to the resources to begin addressing these cultural norms and create real change.
