NYC Community Marketing Specialist

Girls Leadership Institute (GLI) is seeking an experienced marketing specialist to help grow the GLI brand and community programs. We are seeking an individual who is experienced in marketing, sales and community development, and who is also passionate about girls’ social and emotional development.

The Community Marketing Specialist will primarily be responsible for all areas of market development, promotions, sales, events and fundraising for New York City.

The Community Marketing Specialist will work closely with the GLI Executive Director to develop and execute a plan to:

  • Establish the GLI brand in new regions
  • Promote GLI’s mission and program offerings
  • Ensure participation in GLI events
  • Coordinate and drive public relations activities
  • Develop and grow the brand in a manner consistent with the GLI mission and organization
  • Devise local fundraising strategies, including creating and building relationships such as local sponsorships
  • Track, measure and report on marketing efforts

The Community Marketing Specialist will also be responsible for local GLI event planning and execution, including securing venues, publicizing events, handling registration and managing event logistics. Event planning experience is strongly recommended.

The Specialist will work on long-term strategic planning with the Board of Directors and Executive Director, representing the specific region.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate:

  • Holds an undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing, communications, business or a related area with three to five years of experience (candidates who do not have advanced degrees but have significant work experience in these areas will be considered)
  • Is experienced in brand management, brand promotions, event management and fundraising
  • Is self-motivated, resourceful, a strategic thinker and someone comfortable working independently in a grassroots marketing mode
  • Knows how to work successfully as part of a dispersed virtual team
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Feels passionate about girls' empowerment and leadership
  • Position is part-time. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
