Camp Activities

Warm-Up
No this isn’t sports, or some weird PE thing.  We like to start our day with fun, challenging games together like Woosh, Yes, and Boppity Bop Bop Bop (you don’t need to know the games beforehand!). The games help us relax, be loud, take risks, stop thinking, get to know each other and laugh. On the last night of camp, this is what the girls choose to do, and when they go home, this is one of the things they miss the most!

Free Time
This is mail time – and your chance to load up on candy at the store, or from your care package. You can check out the campus, do crafts, play games, chill with your roommates, or even enjoy your cell phone once in a while.

Fitness
In the afternoon we like to lace-up our sneakers, blast some music, get into our bathing suit or grab our sticky mat.  Each day there are choices that suit your mood, the weather and your feelings about sports in general. There is volleyball, swimming, yoga, soccer, basketball, tennis, our lake loop (walking or running), Frisbee, and more.

Projects
At the start of the session, each girl chooses a creative project to focus on.  Guided by teaching artists, campers play, improvise and create unique works of art. Last summer’s projects included photography, Girls Make Movies, theater and improvisation, creative writing, sculpture and more.

Night Time
Now we chill. We go out for pizza and the movies. We bead rings and bracelets, watch DVDs, and make masks; we love dance parties, beauty night, scavenger hunts painting pottery, or walking down to the field to watch Fourth of July Fireworks.

GLI Adventure
Every couple of days we get off-campus.

High Ropes Course—We push our limits, face our fears, and feel really sore the next day. The High Ropes Course is “challenge by choice,” meaning you decide how high you want to go. With professional supervision, helmets and harnesses, the tasks are actually extremely safe.

Beach Day—A day at the beach to do absolutely nothing. Bring your towel, your magazines and your Twizzlers. After an intense week of amazing workshops, the sun and water feel just right.

Movie Night—A night to go into town and see the latest film. Share your reviews on the way home.

Extreme Day—We return to the high ropes course for an extreme adventure, like building rafts, zip-lines, the Giants Ladder, or crossing the river.

Arts Intensive
For our high school campers. You’re creative, brilliant and ready to explore your experiences in exciting ways.   We get that.  So we’ve invited local artists, writers, and performers to guide you on a three-day long Arts Intensive.  The Arts Intensive projects allow you to recognize, honor and communicate your authentic voice through creative media.  The projects all culminate in a public celebration of artwork for your supportive camp community.  Last year’s projects included inflatable sculptures, original songs, poetry and spoken word pieces.
